School of Health Sciences, Fremantle

The College of Health Sciences is comprised of academic programs that focus on the health and well being of individuals and communities. With the opening of the University’s Sydney campus in 2006 a national College of Health Sciences and its Fremantle School was established. The establishment of a School of Health Sciences in Sydney is on the horizon.

The School of Health Sciences in Fremantle currently offers the following courses.

Exercise & Sport Science
Health and Physical Education
Physiotherapy
Preventive Health
Outdoor Recreation

The School has excellent facilities for professional learning.

The School also hosts The Institute for Health and Rehabilitation Research.

PHENC Project
The PHENC Project brings together a multidisciplinary team of researchers who recently received a grant from the Carrick Institute in Higher Education.

The research project is exploring interactive video analysis to develop learning and assessment of university students’ practical and communication skills.  Staff and students are using video cameras and Dartfish, a video analysis software package, in interactive and participative ways for teaching, learning and assessment.  The acronym PHENC, comes from the five schools are participating in the project: Physiotherapy, Health and Physical Education, Education, Nursing and Counselling.
