All items on loan are able to be recalled by library staff if another patron requests them. The new return date will be shown on a notice sent out via student email. Standard fine rates apply for all overdue recalled items.

What do I need to be able to borrow?
Students use their student ID card to borrow from the Library. ID Cards are obtained from the Registrar's Office as part of your enrolment process. The card must be produced at the Loans Desk each time a Library transaction takes place.

How do I make a request on an item that is on loan?
Simply login to the "My Account" section of the library catalogue. Once you have found the item you would like to request, click on the "Make Request" button. An email will be sent when the item is available for you to collect. Reservations cannot be placed on Reserve or short-term loan materials, or any materials not currently on loan.

Renewals
Items may be renewed once only. Overdue items, Reserve items and short-term (2-day and 7-day) loans may not be renewed.

Returning Loans
Please return all standard loans to the Return Box directly opposite the Library entry door. Loans Desk Reserve and overnight Reserve loans are to be handed directly to Library staff at the desk. DO NOT return items to any of the Library's shelving trolleys as they will not be recorded as returned and you will accrue overdue fines, for which you will be liable.

How can I avoid fines?
Fines are charged for the late return of Library books at a rate of one dollar($1.00) per day for standard loan items, and two dollars ($2.00) per hour for Reserve item loans. In addition to fines, students must pay the replacement cost and an administration fee for books not returned within 30 days. Students are not permitted to borrow or renew items while they have overdue books or fines, and are advised to check their borrower record at the end of each semester, as exam results will be withheld until all items are returned and fines are cleared.

Public Borrowers

Members of the public can gain access to the Broome Library and its resources by paying a subscription fee of $40.00 (GST inc.) per year.

For this fee members of the public will be able to borrow up to five items for a period of 28 days. For more information about this, please contact the Broome Library Loans Desk via email (broomedesk@nd.edu.au) or 08 9192 0644.

Alumni

Members can apply for borrowing privileges by contacting the Broome Library Loans Desk via email (broomedesk@nd.edu.au) or 08 9192 0644.

Reciprocal Borrowing

The University Library has reciprocal borrowing arrangements with other universities. If Broome students are visiting other university campuses, they should take their current student card and ask to join at the library as a reciprocal borrower. You may also need a letter from the University confirming that you are a student in good standing before you can join other University Libraries. Please contact the library staff for more details.

The Broome Campus Library also has reciprocal borrowing agreements with the Kimberley College of TAFE, Broome Senior High School and St Mary’s College. To enrol at these libraries present your current student card.
